NibbleNet on Platform
Nov 21 2011, 10:28 AM EST
I LOVE this! I have been using those small hole hay nets in their stalls and ended up double bagging once they got good at it. But my horses are outside most of the time and I have been trying to figure out something that is affordable and easy to make for this winter. There are some great ideas for various slow feeders, but the easiest ones were hung on a fence. We have electric fence, so not an option. I've looked into purchasing a large feeder or a couple of smaller ones, but talk about expensive! This however, looks very doable so I'm going to order 3 NibbleNets today and start putting together the platform this week! Great idea!! Do you find this valuable? |

I think my husband ordered 3 of the large ground NibbleNets on Monday afternoon and they arrived on Wednesday! We thought about the company's suggestion of fastening them onto a stall mat because it seemed like the least amount of work (except cutting those things isn't easy). Now we are back to tacking a piece of plywood onto a skid.I'd love to hear if someone has actually tried the stall mats. Do you find this valuable? |

I'd love to see pictures of yours. I can see the draw of them, but they would take me forever to feed 8 horses with them, so I stick with my big feeders except when traveling. I have the busy horse bags and they are great, just a bit hard to load.

Eight horses!!! You need more than Busy Bags! :-DWe decided to try to combine the rubber mat with the skid. We had some extra mat so he's got that cut and now we just have to attempt to assemble it! We are not gifted when it comes to this sort of thing, but I'll definitely post a picture. Hopefully, we'll get this done this weekend. Do you find this valuable? |

My husband just finished ours, but he put the rubber mat on top of the skid. So ours looks very similar to the ones with the plywood on top of the skid and then he added a piece of rubber mat. We thought it would give it a little more weight and maybe keep things cleaner, but we don't know yet. I don't know how to add a photo? I took a couple and I will as soon as I figure it out.

Okay, I added two pictures and one is NibbleNet Single and the other is just NibbleNet (I meant to say "double"). Our mare isn't thrilled and seems to prefer her own so we may end up having to replace the double. Also, I'm noticing that our most aggressive horse seems to be ending up with the double feeder ALONE. But, then I'll see the other gelding with him sometimes. I guess we're just going to have to watch and see how things develop.
