Metal grids/grates
Dec 19 2008, 7:31 PM EST
What can be used for topping hay? Are there any websites that sell sheets or something?I have a couple boxes that I'd like to try to use, but need some kind of grid that I can fit in them. Any thoughts on the deck boxes that are used for storing seat pads and such? It's certainly weatherproof, but a bit lightweight also. I would anchor it to the fence probably. Would love to try to fit a grid for it for outdoor use. Any ideas? Do you find this valuable?

How big do you think those holes are in the gridwall panels? I can't find that is says anywhere. My 2"x4" on my feeders needs to be smaller, they've figured it out and now the hay only lasts about 3 hours instead of 8-10. Do you find this valuable? |

OK I found 3" on one of the pages. That's too big. Anyone else have any ideas for metal grating or similar at 1-2"?

I used fencing panels. The hog panels come in 4x4 and I cut two peices an welded them together. My horses have problems getting hay through the 1 7/8" square holes. The 2x4 holes in the other grid are too big.

What about using the small mesh (hockey netting or the like) underneath the wire grid? The wire grid would possibly keep the netting from being ripped apart. Perhaps someone has already tried this & has some thoughts/feedback.
